Pashto to English translation in Australia

Pashto-to-English translation is requested when a Pashto-language record must be read in English for an Australian organisation. Customers commonly send identity, civil, immigration, legal, academic, employment, medical or financial documents. ATIS reviews the source before confirming a practitioner and quote.

Pashto is also written in English as Pushto, Pushtu, Pakhto, Pakhtu or Pashtu. Those spellings refer to the same language. They are not separate service pages. Translations are prepared for the organisation that will receive them. A translation does not guarantee a visa, licence, admission, registration or court result.

Which language is on the document?

A document from Afghanistan is not automatically written in Pashto. Afghan identity and civil papers may show Pashto, Dari, English or more than one language on the same page. Papers connected with Pakistan may also include Urdu or English. The visible script alone does not always establish the language.

Pashto, Dari, Persian (Farsi), Hazaragi and Urdu are not interchangeable names for one language. Mixed-language documents may need more than one language competency. Regional Pashto variation, handwriting, spelling and document condition can affect assessment.

Name the language shown on the document if you know it. If you are unsure, send the clearest available copy for assessment. ATIS confirms the source language before assigning the work.

Pashto and Dari are different languages

Pashto and Dari are different languages. A document from Afghanistan may be in Pashto, Dari or both, so ATIS checks the source before confirming the appropriate practitioner. A Dari translator does not automatically cover Pashto, and a Pashto translator does not automatically cover Dari.

If the document is in Dari, use Dari translation services. Hazaragi and Persian (Farsi) are also selected separately. If you are unsure which language is shown, send the document for assessment before ordering.

Pashto documents commonly translated

These categories describe papers often sent for Pashto document translation. Confirm the receiving body’s current checklist and format before ordering.

Tazkira, Taskira and identity records

Afghan Tazkira translation, including papers described as a Taskira, electronic identity records and other identity evidence, can be assessed when the source text is in Pashto. Not every Tazkira is written in Pashto.

Passports and national identity cards

Passport translation and identity-card translation record the names, numbers and dates shown. They do not issue or replace an identity document.

Birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates

Civil-status records, family and relationship papers and name-change evidence can be assessed where the readable text is in Pashto.

Driver licences

Overseas driver licence translation can be assessed. A translation does not convert an overseas licence into an Australian licence.

Police and character certificates

Police clearance and character-certificate translation record the visible text. They do not interpret legal effect or confirm a person’s character.

Citizenship and immigration papers

Visa, citizenship, family-sponsorship and protection-related supporting papers can be assessed. This is not migration advice.

Pashto Tazkira and identity documents

This page uses Tazkira as the principal spelling. Taskira is a spelling customers may use for the same Afghan national identity document. A Tazkira is not a birth certificate. Paper, handwritten and electronic layouts differ.

Some Tazkira pages are bilingual or mixed. If Dari or English also appears, say so when you request a quote. Names, dates and place names should be checked against a passport or existing English record when consistent spelling matters.

The translation records the information shown. It does not authenticate the document, reconstruct missing fields or create a replacement identity record. Send the clearest complete copy available for assessment.

Immigration, citizenship and official use

English versions of Pashto documents are commonly requested for visa applications, citizenship matters, family sponsorship, protection and humanitarian files, identity evidence, skills assessments, education or employment applications, legal proceedings, and matters before the Administrative Review Tribunal (ART, formerly the AAT).

Requirements depend on the application and receiving body. Customers should check the current document checklist and provide the original-language document where required. Current Home Affairs skilled-visa guidance states that non-English documents must be translated into English. That checklist is not generalised to every visa. See the official guidance at immi.homeaffairs.gov.au.

This is not migration or legal advice. A translation does not determine a visa, tribunal or court outcome and is not automatically accepted.

Immigration document translation

ATIS can assess Pashto-to-English translation of court orders, affidavits, statutory declarations supplied by the customer, witness statements, government correspondence, and letters or supporting papers, including documents described as threat letters. The translation records the source text. It does not authenticate the document or assess a legal or protection claim.

ATIS translates the material supplied. It does not draft affidavits, prepare statutory declarations, write the customer’s account or replace legal or migration advice.

Legal document translation

Academic, skills-assessment and employment documents

School certificates, academic transcripts, degrees, diplomas, training certificates, employment contracts, reference letters, payslips, skills-assessment papers and professional-registration records can be assessed. A translation does not guarantee admission, employment, registration or a skills-assessment outcome.

Licences, medical and financial documents

Driver licences, medical reports, vaccination records, bank statements and other financial or business papers can be assessed when a clear copy is supplied. Medical document translation is not medical advice. Bank-statement translation records the figures shown; it does not audit the account.

Handwritten, damaged and mixed-language documents

ATIS can assess handwritten Pashto, older or low-resolution scans, stamps, seals and marginal notes, mixed Pashto and Dari pages, and mixed Pashto, Urdu and English pages. Variant spellings and transliterations of personal and place names are reviewed against the source.

Send the clearest scan or photograph available, every page including reverse sides, a passport or existing English record when consistent name spelling is important, and any receiving-body instructions. Illegible, missing or uncertain text may need to be marked appropriately in the translation.

ATIS does not promise that every damaged or handwritten document can be completely deciphered. It does not silently correct names or dates, reconstruct missing official records or create replacement identity documents.

Quotes, timeframes and delivery

Pricing depends on the document type, length, legibility, formatting, certification requirements and requested timeframe. Upload a clear copy to receive a confirmed quote. There is no published fixed price or turnaround on this page.

Work starts after the quote is accepted. The quote is not generated instantly. Delivery uses the methods confirmed for that assignment. Printed copies are available only where that option is confirmed when quoting.

How to request a Pashto-to-English translation

  1. 1 Upload a clear copy

Send every relevant page through Get a Quote. Clear scans or photographs may be sufficient for quoting; the receiving authority may still require originals or certified copies.

  2. 2 ATIS reviews the source

ATIS checks the source language, Pashto-to-English direction, document condition and intended use, then provides a confirmed quote and timeframe.

  3. 3 A suitable practitioner completes the work

Translation begins after the quote is accepted. The required format is the format confirmed when quoting.

  4. 4 Receive the translation

Delivery uses the options confirmed in the quote. Submitting the form does not confirm availability or price.
